Anything we do, whether it's weight loss, playing sports, intense running, or even working a job comes down to mental fortification.
Dedication and perseverance are what got me to the place I am at today.
I wake up every day and choose the path of most resistance.
Before losing weight and running marathons, I was depressed, always pointing the finger at everyone and anything else to justify why I couldn't or wouldn't do something.
Once I turned that finger around and started pointing it at myself, things started to change.
Instead of running away from accountability and responsibility, I started running towards it.
I read a book that also changed my entire perspective on things; its called Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins.
He taught me that we're all operating at 40% and we're capable of much more. So I started tapping into the rest of what we're capable of, and things really started to change mentally and physically.
When I first started, I thought losing weight was all in the gym.
I thought it was about weight lifting.
I thought being fit was associated with lifting weights, so I figured that’s what I needed to do.
Something I wish I knew when I was first starting was that 80% of the work is in your diet. The real work of losing weight happens in the kitchen, by what you consume and how much of it you consume.
It literally comes down to numbers.
If I had known that from the beginning, I'm 100% sure I would have met my goals much quicker.

As for motivation, I adopted the philosophy from David Goggins. There were days I felt like not doing anything, felt like quitting and sitting on the couch.
What got me through and still gets me through is having a calm mind. Mental toughness and discipline are what gets me through.
I stand by everything in his book and have applied all his teachings. It's worth a read.
I've learned over time that though he does seem intense, he is talking truth and 99% of the time the truth is not what people want to hear or how they want it to be told.
Last year in March, I weighed 110 kg (242 pounds) and was feeling lost and unhappy.
I started exploring intermittent fasting and calorie counting, and today I’m down to 76 kg (167 pounds)—just 5 kg (11 pounds) away from my goal.
This journey has transformed my life in ways I never imagined, both physically and mentally.
In this journey, I’ve learned a lot. I share my learnings and motivate others with my close community at:
